Can you believe it's fall already, and back to school time. Weren't we just waiting for summer to happen?
It's been a wonderful summer greeting our returning visitors who make it a point to visit us every year when they're in the area. We expanded the shelving and offer an ever-expanding selection of pre-loved books while we're busy publishing new ones.
But please don't wait to visit. We are back to our regular days and hours: Tuesdays through Saturdays 10 am to 5 pm.
In the meantime, enjoy our newest releases...
Bugwayji by Linda Gauthier. A truly exceptional collection of Indigenous knowledge of the edible plants in north-eastern Ontario's natural places. Full colour photos, explanations, cautions and recipes for the wild sustenance that grows around us.
We are pleased to announce the release of Pinstripes & Blondes: Surviving Booze, Broads and Blow by Mark Daniels.
This candid memoir takes readers through decades of success, excess, poor decisions, hard lessons, and eventual redemption. Written with humour and honesty, it provides an unfiltered look at a life lived at full speed. Readers looking for a compelling true story will find much to appreciate in this engaging new release.
We are even more excited with the other side of Mark Daniels memoir The Hourglass Was Lying. A reflective look at how our reaction to the most random comment can shape the choices you make in your life.

Gretchen Roedde's mystery novel Erratic continues to attract readers.
Set primarily in Northern Ontario, this intriguing murder mystery revolves around a glacial erratic boulder and a series of mysterious deaths. Combining a strong sense of place with compelling characters and suspenseful storytelling, it remains one of our most popular recent releases.
The Canadian Writers' Contest Calendar 2027
continues to help writers locate contests and opportunities throughout Canada. The print copies for 2026 have sold out, but the ePub version will stay available until December 31st, 2026. The pre-publication discount is now up on the website. Ordering it early helps us determine how many to print, and saves you a bit of money for waiting until the end of November.
If your organization is planning a writing contest for 2027, please send us the information before October 20th, 2026 so it can be included in the 2027 edition. Listings are free. Forms in various formats can be downloaded from this page.
As a reminder to those who have said they would post a review on TripAdvisor, doing so would be a huge favour and show of support (and thank-you to those who have already posted). More people came into the store this year saying that is where they discovered our store. The link is here: TripAdvisor reviews for White Mountain Publications, aka White Mountain Books. We appreciate all your support.
We hope you have had a safe and relaxing summer filled with family, friends, and plenty of good books. Thank you once again for your continued support of White Mountain Publications.
Be well, stay safe, and happy reading.
